70% x 2025

Roane County has set a goal for our students to achieve a 70% post-secondary success rate by 2025!  Our juniors had the opportunity to attend an exciting presentation of the "70% x 2025" initiative and witness a panel discussion from some key players in the area.

President Randy Boyd of the University of Tennessee set the stage and urged the students to take advantage of the opportunities available to them in Roane County and all of Tennessee.

Roane County Executive, Wade Creswell, explained the goal of having 70% of seniors in the class of 2025 to enroll in the following post-secondary opportunities: apprenticeships, TCAT, 2 year colleges, and 4 year colleges.

The panel discussion was moderated by Krissy DeAlejandro, the President/CEO of TnAchieves, and the guests on the panel were:

Mayor Glenn Jacobs - Knox County (Knox County is actively participating in a similar initiative)

Russell Jenkins - Director of Roane County Schools

Dr. Stephen Streiffer - Director of Oak Ridge National Laboratory

Danice Turpin - President of TCAT Harriman

RCHS is grateful to be a part of this exciting new goal for Roane County!  We hope everyone will support the goals being set by our community leaders and encourage our students to further their education beyond high school.

Executive Director of Institutional Effectiveness, Assessment and Planning at Pellissippi State, Oakley Atterson, gave the final remarks as a graduate of Oliver Springs High School that went on to pursue his goals after attending a 4 year college.
