Roane County High School Scholarship Challenge Guidelines for Students

 

Applicants must be a senior in good standing in academics, attendance, and discipline.  To apply for one of these scholarships from one of our local businesses to help with the cost of your first year at college, you will be required to type a 250-word essay.  The essay will need to include:

  1. What our community means to you
  2. What future plans you have after high school

You will complete the attached application and submit it along with your 250-word essay to the Guidance Office by May 7, 2018

Any Senior that attended Kiddie Korner Day Care for a year or more and has 3.0 GPA or higher can submit an essay as to why early education is important to them. Deadline to submit Essay to Guidance is May 1, to be considered for a scholarship.

The Jennifer Lawson Memorial Band Scholarship

A one-time scholarship award for a graduating senior in the Roane County, Tennessee High School Band who exhibits the hard work and giving spirit of the late Jennifer Lawson, who served the Roane County High School Band as Uniform Committee Chairperson and Chaperone with great skill and a beautiful smile.

The Student-View Scholarship is a unique opportunity for high school seniors. 
It is open to all students regardless of academic achievement or financial need.

Student Insights will award the following prizes: (Click your TN state link below to apply)

  • Two (2) individual prize of a $1,000 scholarship.
  • Ten (10) individual prizes, consisting of $500 scholarships each

It is exceptionally easy to apply:

  • NO minimum SAT or ACT score
  • NO minimum grade point average
  • NO lengthy, time-consuming paperwork
  • NO essays
  • NO application fees

 

Simply complete a 15-25 minutes online survey about local colleges.  You will then be automatically entered into a random drawing for a scholarship award.

General Information

Abbott & Fenner are committed to continuing our efforts at helping those who have the desire and ambition to succeed.

The winner(s) of this annual scholarship will receive their award within 2 weeks of the listed deadline. All applicants should include their full name and mailing address with their submissions as well as the school they are currently attending.

The A&F Scholarships are available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post secondary institution.

Application Procedure for 2018

To apply for this scholarship you will need to write an essay on the topic below. The essay should be between 500 and 1000 words. Your submissions must be sent to us by email at: scholarships@abbottandfenner.com

Topic:  

Describe your educational career and life goals.  Explain your plan for achieving these goals.  Include your degree/major, why you selected it, and how this degree/major will help you achieve your goals.

Purpose of Scholarships

AES Engineering is pleased to be able to continue offering scholarships to motivated students to help in the furthering of their education.

Scholarship Criteria

Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by an evaluation of the essays that are submitted.

Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility.

You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.

How to Apply

Students must submit an essay of between 500 and 1000 words in answer to the following question:

When you look back on your life in 30 years, what would it take for you to consider your life successful? What relationships or accomplishments will be important on this journey?

Amount of award: $500.00
Deadline for entry: October 6, 2018

There is no application packet for this award. Please do not include your resume at this time.

Be sure to include your full name as well as the name of the school you are attending this year and your plans for next year.

You are eligible to receive this scholarship if you meet the below requirement:
- A high school senior that has already been accepted into a college or university

Eligibility
The following groups are eligible to receive this $1000 scholarship:
  -High school seniors that have been accepted into a college or university
  -Current college and university students who haven’t reached their last year of studies yet. This includes undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students.

Guidelines
To enter for a chance to receive this scholarship you must write a 500-word essay on the topic:
“What are Unique Ways People Have Reached Financial Stability?”

Submission Deadline
December 15, 2018

Winner Selection
Once the submission deadline comes, the Xcela Wealth Scholarship committee will review all essay submissions. One winner will be selected by the end of January 2019 to receive a $1000 scholarship. The winner will have two weeks to respond before a new winner is selected.

Kalu Yala Scholarship
Application Deadline December 31, 2018
Created with the future entrepreneurs and business people at Roane State Community College in mind. We hope that this scholarship helps someone get a little closer to their dream career.
 
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Kalu Yala Scholarship you have to meet one of the following criteria:

1.  High school senior that has been accepted into a college or university.
2.  Current college or university student that is not in their final semester. This includes all education levels (undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate).

Guidelines
To apply for this scholarship you must write a 500-word essay on the topic: “The Main Benefits of Studying Abroad”.

Chrissy Weems Scholarship
Application Deadline February 28, 2019
Created to help the future entrepreneurs and small business owners of our world. All high school seniors who have been selected to attend a college or university and current college students are encouraged to apply. To enter for a chance to receive this $1000 scholarship you just have to write a short 500-word essay. Full details can be found below:

You are eligible to apply for this $1000 scholarship if you meet one of the below requirements.

2.  A current college student that is not in their final year.

Guidelines
To apply for the $1000 Chrissy Weems Scholarship please write a 500-word essay on the following topic: “Share an adversity in your life that you have fought to overcome and what you have learned from it”.

Winner Selection
A winner will be selected by the scholarship committee in March 2019. Once contacted the winner will have two weeks to respond so the scholarship can be awarded to their school’s financial aid department.

This year the Oak Ridge Chapter of FEW will be awarding two $500 scholarships to students in two different categories.  The first scholarship offereithe Jeanette S. MilleScholarship that will be awarded to students who have a financial need.  The second scholarship is the FEW Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math (STEM) Scholarship.

Kingston Rotary club - Four Way Test Speech Scholarship Competition

Date for the competition is March 13, 2018 at the Michael Dunn Center

All students are eligbile.  The address is 629 Gallaher Road Kingston

The winner then will go to the District competition on March 24 at the Tennessee Technology University on Saturday March 24,2018
