Rules and Regulations for the 2012 Competition

I. Qualifications

A. Each school may enter one applicant.
B. Each contestant must:

1. Be a girl graduating in May 2012
2. Be planning to become a teacher

II. Preliminary Preparations

A. The guidance counselor in each school will deliver to interested applicants the personal profile from and five copies of rating sheet.
B. The applicants must distribute copies of the rating sheet to five different teachers for rating. These teachers are to return the rating sheets directly to the guidance counselor.
C. Complete a copy of

1. Personal profile
2. An essay (a minimum of 150 words original: subject – “Why I Am Choosing Teaching As A Profession”)
3. Transcript of grades, credits, test scores, and rank in class
4. One billfold size picture (optional)

D. Each guidance counselor as soon as possible

1. Compile the rating of five teachers
2. Select one applicant from those submitted
3. Send all related materials of selected applicant to chairpersons of Professional Affairs Committee by March 15, 2012

In the new High School Transition Policy, the State Board stipulated that End-of-Course examinations will be given in English I, English II, English III, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, U.S. History, Biology I, Chemistry and Physics. Further, the results of these examinations will be factored into the student’s grade at a percentage determined by the State Board of Education.

The end-of-course test grade will count 25% of the second semester grade.

Students will not be required to pass any one examination, but instead students must achieve a passing score for the course.

Send the order form and payment to the office or to Mrs. Mayfield in room 325 (make sure you have your student’s first period teacher’s name on the form for delivery)

REMEMBER … The yearbook is the one thing of the high school years that will stay the same.

Cost: TBA… We will wait and see how much money is raised in the basketball concession stand.

***Any parent that would like to donate homemade goodies to sell at the concession stand would be greatly appreciated. Bring your items to the school office on the day of any Basketball game.
